My favorite memory was covering the CWS last year from the press box. The Vanderbilt vs Louisville elimination game was probably the most exciting moment.
Probably covering the 2018 Austin Regional. That regional final between Texas and Indiana was great. I especially remember Kody Clemens hitting a double down the right field line which ignited the crowd in the seventh inning and scored the eventual game winning run.
@John Peters Yes it was! I was covering it for Sports Illustrated for Kids and Horns Illustrated. I currently cover Texas Longhorn sports (mostly baseball, softball, men's and women's basketball) for Horns Illustrated, which is a magazine and website exclusively covering Texas. I've been writing for them for a few years now, and I also write for Sports Spectrum, a national christian sports magazine and website.
I feel for Louisville--they have had a lot of heartbreaks recently. Mine would certainly be Sam Cohen's pinch hit, walk-off grand slam that knocked them out, on their field, in a 2016 Super Regional. Louisville only lost one game at home that year, until UCSB took two straight.
"Mike Rooney, you and I have witnessed a lot of Super Regionals in our time--I have never seen a more improbable ending than what we just saw..."
There have been a few at Dudy Noble over the years but I'd have to say the last ballgame of last years Super Regional. We were hosting Stanford and Mangum (SEC's all time hits leader) comes up for his last career at bat at the Dude and put one through the 6 hole. Then in his last at bat at DNF Big Hit McNamee comes up and puts one deep over the left center wall. I've never heard that place so loud.

That sounds amazing. Who were you covering the Regional for?

@Riley Zayas That's awesome! Maybe I'll see you at the College World Series next year!
