  • SEC Weekly Roundup (May 2-5): LSU Heating Up at the Right Time

Don’t look now, but the defending College World Series champions are rounding into shape at the perfect time as LSU won a huge series over Texas A&M at home. They won each of the first two games by 6-4 scores. In the first game, a 4-run sixth inning for LSU was highlighted by a 2-RBI double from Josh Pearson. Gage Jump wasn’t quite as dominant as he showed the past two weekends, but did a good job holding down that Aggie offense over 5.1 innings. Texas A&M put 3 runs on the board in the first inning of game two against Luke Holman. Then LSU started to settle down after that and didn’t give up anything more while striking out 10 over 5 innings. Tommy White got the scoring started for LSU with a solo home run as part of a 3-run third inning to tie the game. And then he had the final blow from LSU with an RBI single in the eighth. The Aggies unleashed the bats on Sunday scoring 9 runs in the fifth and 5 runs in the ninth for a 14-4 win. Gavin Grahovac had 3 hits, a 3-run home run in the fifth, and 4 RBI total. With the number one team dropping a series, Arkansas had a chance to get back on top, but they also suffered a road series loss as Kentucky now has the best record in the SEC with two weeks left. Hagen Smith struck out 14 batters in game one of the series – his ninth double-digit strikeout game of the year. In SEC play, he’s only failed to get double-digit strikeouts once (April12 at Alabama). He got plenty of run support in the 10-3 win as Kendall Diggs drove in four. The Wildcats flipped the script with an 11-3 win in the second game. Emilien Pitre and Nick Lopez each drove in 4 runs. Kentucky jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the finale before holding on for a 7-4 win. Mason Moore was solid on the mound over 5 innings, while Pitre and Lopez stayed hot as each had 2 hits, 1 home run, and 2 RBI. Florida was in desperate need of a series win at home, but Tennessee wouldn’t oblige them as they took two of three in Gainesville. The two teams played a doubleheader on Friday with Tennessee taking the first game 6-2 and the Gators hanging on for a 4-3 win in the second game. AJ Causey once again came in after an opener for Tennessee and pitched well, tossing 5 shutout innings with 7 strikeouts for his eighth win of the year. Liam Peterson, Fisher Jameson, and Luke McNeillie combined to strike out 16 Volunteer hitters in the second game. Jac Caglianone was 3-3 with 2 runs scored, including the eventual winning run in the eighth inning. Florida was up 3-2 in the finale with Caglianone throwing a good game. But Tennessee started to get to him in the sixth and then attacked the bullpen when they came in for an 11-run inning. Hunter Ensley went 3-4 with 2 home runs and 7 RBI for Tennessee in the 16-3 (7) win. Vanderbilt continues to struggle mightily on the road this year as they were swept at Georgia, who suddenly looks like a hosting team. It was complete domination in the first two games with Georgia winning 10-0 (7) and 14-4 (8). Bulldogs starter Leighton Finley struckout 11 in 6 scoreless innings in game one, while Paul Toetz had the big day at the plate with 3 hits, 1 HR, and 3 RBI. It was a group effort offensively for Georgia in the second game as every hitter had at least 1 hit, but nobody had more than 2. Kolten Smith was nearly perfect for Georgia coming out of the bullpen tossing 4 scoreless innings with 6 strikeouts and just 1 hit allowed. Zach Harris started game three for Georgia and didn’t allow a hit over 4 innings. The Georgia offense stayed hot with 11 runs on 9 hits and 8 walks for the 11-7 win. Charlie Condon homered in every game, has home runs in seven straight games, and has 33 on the year. Missouri’s turnaround this year has been impressive, but their time is running out to get to Hoover after a series loss to South Carolina. The Gamecocks two big bats, Ethan Petry and Cole Messina, each went deep in a 10-2 win. Messina drove in 5 runs. Missouri jumped on South Carolina starter Eli Jones with 4 runs in the first inning en route to an 8-3 win. Drew Culbertson drove in 3 runs for Missouri, while Carter Rustad was solid in relief giving up 3 earned runs over 6.1 innings with 6 strikeouts. Dalton Reeves hit a solo shot in the seventh and Ethan Petry added a 2-run homer to tie the game at four. The Gamecocks followed with another 3-run inning in the eighth and two more in the ninth for a 9-4 win. Mississippi State quietly has the fifth most wins in the SEC – boosted by a series win over Alabama at home this past weekend. The Bulldogs offense was relentless in the first game scoring 3, 1 2, and 6 runs in the first 4 innings on their way to a 13-3 (7) win. Hunter Hines has started to heat up as he had a 2 home run game with 4 RBI. Amani Larry hit a grand slam. Jurrangelo Cijntje did a great job holding down the Alabama offense in a 8-1 win in game two. He allowed just 1 run on 7 hits and no walks with 8 strikeouts over 7 innings. Logan Kohler was 3-4 with a home run and two driven in. While Alabama would have loved a series win, they did manage to take a game on the road in the finale, 10-5. Senior infielder Max Grant hit a big 3-run home run for Alabama in the second inning. The Crimson Tide has some work to do in order to feel good about their postseason chances as they now get set to face a hot LSU team in Tuscaloosa next weekend. Ole Miss picked up some much-needed wins at Auburn over the weekend. A Will Furniss 3-run homer in the fifth broke the game open for Ole Miss who would go on to take game one 11-7. Andrew Fischer was the hero for Ole Miss in game two as he hit a game-tying home run in the fifth and had a go-ahead sacrifice fly out in the top of the 9th for the 5-4 win. The Tigers managed to avoid the sweep with a wild, 10-9 win on Sunday. Auburn took the lead in the seventh before Ole Miss tied it in the eighth. Auburn took the lead again in the bottom of the eighth only to see Ole Miss score 3 runs in the top of the ninth to take a 9-8 lead. Then Auburn would win with 2 outs in the ninth on this passed ball. • Big 12 Weekly Roundup (May 2-5): OSU Drops, OU Arrives

New Rankings The new College Baseball Nation Top 25 once again features two teams this week. The Oklahoma State Cowboys a few spots to No. 21 after they dropped their series in Austin this weekend. The Oklahoma Sooners who dropped from the Top 25 a week ago, are back this week after a sweep of Texas Tech in Lubbock. The Sooners still have the best record in the Big 12 at 18-6, three games ahead of a trio of teams: Oklahoma State, Texas, and West Virginia, all at 15-9. A Look Back at Week 9 in Big 12 Baseball No. 18 Oklahoma at Texas Tech Oklahoma opened the series in Lubbock by shutting down Texas Tech in an 8-0 shutout behind the pitching of left-hander Braden Davis (6-3). Over seven innings on the mound, Davis allowed just two base hits and struck out eight Red Raiders batters. Will Carsten pitched the final two innings for the Sooners to complete the shutout. The two pitchers combined to limit Texas Tech to just four hits in the ballgame. John Spikerman was 3-for-4 with two RBI in the leadoff spot for the Sooners, and teammate Scott Mudler also drove in two runs in a 2-for-4 effort. Jackson Nicklaus was 3-for-5 with one RBI. Texas Tech committed four errors in the game rendering three of Oklahoma's eight runs unearned. After an injury in Friday night's game, Texas Tech was without the services of the Big 12 batting leader Damian Bravo for the final two games of the weekend. Oklahoma led Saturday's middle game 6-0 after five innings with the help of an Anthony Mackenzie RBI single and a three-run home run. Bryce Madron also homered on a 3-for-4 night and drove in two runs. Texas Tech clawed back slowly, plating five runs over the final four frames aided by home runs by Kevin Bazzell and Tracer Lopez, but the Sooners added an insurance run in the eighth inning on their way to a 7-5 series-clinching victory. The Sooners got off to a quick start on Sunday afternoon, scoring two runs in the game's opening frame on a Michael Snyder (3-for-5) home run after a Texas Tech defensive error put a free runner on base. Texas Tech starter Mac Heuer departed the game with two outs in the first inning with an injury, which does not seem to be arm related, but the Red Raiders were into their bullpen early in the game looking for answers. Easton Carmichael drove in three runs, two of them on a sixth inning home run. Gavin Kash led off the bottom of the ninth inning with a no-doubter to right field, and Texas Tech scored another run in the ninth, but the rally fell a run short as the Sooners completed the sweep with an 8-7 win. Oklahoma used seven pitchers in the game, and Malachi Witherspoon was the only pitcher not to allow a run. No. 21 Oklahoma State at Texas It took until the seventh inning on Friday night for the Longhorns and the Cowboys to differentiate themselves when they opened their series in Austin. Both teams scored one run in the second inning and both teams scored three runs in the third inning. Neither team scored over the next three frames. After Oklahoma State took a one run lead in the top of the seventh inning, Texas responded with two runs to take a 6-5 lead. Will Gasparino plated the final run of the game when he hit his 11th home run of the season in the eighth inning. Peyton Powell was 3-for-4 with a double and three runs scored for Texas. Kimble Schuessler added a double and three RBI, and Max Belyeu finished 3-for-3 in the 7-5 Texas win. Nolan Schubart and Aidan Meola each homered for the Cowboys. Gage Boehm pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings to secure the win. The Longhorns claimed the home series on Saturday with a 6-3 victory. Belyeu powered Texas to the win, opening the scoring in the bottom of the first inning with a two RBI double. Oklahoma State tied the game at three in the top of the eighth inning, but the tie did not hold for long as Belyeu hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the inning for a 5-3 lead. Texas catcher Rylan Galvan plated the only other runs in the game for Texas. Galvan grounded out in the seventh inning to score one run, and he doubled home a run in the bottom of the eighth inning to give Texas the 6-3 lead. Oklahoma State right-hander Brian Holiday allowed just two earned runs over 6 2/3 innings and struck out six Longhorns and took a no-decision in the loss. Oklahoma State took Sunday’s game to salvage the road series. Making just his second start of the season on the mound, Carson Benge improved to 2-1 as he tossed a career-high 6 2/3 innings. Benge allowed just one run on two hits and struck out five Texas batters. Benge got the scoring started for the Cowboys with a solo home run in the fourth inning. Schubart and Colin Brueggemann were both 2-for-4 on Sunday and Lane Forsythe was 2-for-2 in the Oklahoma State victory, with Brueggemann hitting a two-run home run and tying a season high with four RBI. The home runs for Benge and Brueggemann were the 13th of the season for both. Texas used eight pitchers in the 7-2 loss at home and they walked nine Cowboys batters. West Virginia at Cincinnati West Virginia opened their road trip in Cincinnati with a 5-4 victory. All five of the Mountaineers' runs came via four home runs. Sam White (3-for-4) hit two of the home runs. Skylar King added his third of the season, and Kyle West had a two-run shot, his team-leading 12th of the season. Josh Kross was 2-for-3 with one RBI and Hunter Jessee was 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in a losing cause for the Bearcats. Saturday's middle game of the weekend was scoreless going into the bottom of the third inning when the Bearcats scored four runs, three of them on a home run by Max Palmieri. In the fifth inning, Alec Jones (2-for-4) hit a solo home run before Kerrington Cross hit a two-run shot and Cincinnati led 7-0. Right-hander Tommy Boba was great in his start for Cincinnati, tying his career-high with nine strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings and he allowed just two runs. Josh Cross was 2-for-2 in the game with a solo home run for the Bearcats as they coasted to a 10-4 win to even the series. Reed Chumley was 3-for-4 with a pair of two-run home runs for West Virginia in defeat. Cincinnati took a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning of Sunday's rubber match and the Mountaineers had already gone to their bullpen to start the second inning. West Virginia plated a run in the second and a run in the third inning to close the deficit to 4-2. In the bottom of the third inning, Jones hit his second home run of the weekend, a three-run blast to left field. The game was all but over at that point, as the two teams combined to score just one run over the final six innings. Nathan Taylor improved to 7-1 on the year with the 8-2 victory. Taylor allowed just two runs over six innings and struck out seven batters. Brenden Garula and Christian Mitchelle added one and two scoreless innings, respectively to help Cincinnati to the series win at home. TCU at Baylor TCU led Friday's opening game with Baylor 2-1 heading into the top of the ninth inning. Horned Frogs left-hander Payton Tolle (6-3) was dominant over 6 1/3 innings as he allowed just one unearned run on three hits and struck out eight Bears batters. Baylor starter Mason Marriott had been equally good over eight innings pitched, allowing just two runs on four hits. Baylor went to the bullpen to open the top of the ninth inning, and TCU exploded for five runs, capped by a Jack Arthur (2-for-3) grand slam to left-center field. Ben Abeldt earned his fifth save of the season with two scoreless innings to close out the 7-1 win on the road. Baylor had only four hits in the ballgame. Baylor led Saturday's middle game 6-1 after two innings, and TCU had already gone to their bullpen in the second inning. Anthony Silva hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning, and Kurtis Byrne (3-for-5) added a solo shot as part of a three-run frame. The Horned Frogs tied the game at six in the sixth inning, and the score remained tied until the 11th inning. Sam Myers and Luke Boyers (3-for-6) each delivered RBI singles in the top of the 11th as TCU took a three-run lead. Baylor got a run back in the bottom of the 11th but fell short as TCU claimed the series with a 9-7 final score. Kole Klecker was great out of the TCU bullpen, throwing four hitless, scoreless innings and striking out six Bears batters. Zachary Cawyer (6-1) was great over five innings as well, also striking out six batters. Abeldt earned his second save in as many days, his sixth of the season, with a scoreless inning of work. The Horned Frogs opened Sunday's game with a six-run inning. Boyers, Logan Maxwell (3-for-5), and Karson Bowen (2-for-4) each hit two-run home runs in the opening frame and Baylor went to the bullpen having only recorded one out in the inning. Louis Rodriguez (4-2) had a nice outing for TCU allowing just two runs over five innings with six strikeouts. The home run trio of the first inning provided all the run-scoring in the game: Maxwell singled home a run in the second inning, Boyers brought home a run in the fourth inning, and Bowen singled home a pair in the top of the ninth inning. Abeldt pitched 2/3 of an inning in the bottom of the ninth to close out the sweep and earn his third save of the series with the 10-6 victory. Kansas at Kansas State Kansas took a 2-1 lead into the bottom of the eighth inning on Friday night in Manhattan. Kaelen Culpepper tied the game in the bottom of the eighth inning with a two-out double and Nick English singled home the go-ahead run and Kansas State took a 3-2 lead to the ninth inning. In the top of the ninth inning, three straight walks issued by Tyson Neighbors gave the Jayhawks hope as they loaded the bases with no outs. After a strikeout, Jake English hit a screaming liner that Wildcats third baseman Jaden Parsons left his feet to grab over his head for the second out. Neighbors then got a strikeout looking to end the thriller and he earned his fifth save of the season. Kansas State head coach Pete Hughes said after the game of Neighbors in that ninth inning jam, “There's only one guy in our program that can pitch his way out of it, and it was the guy on the mound.” A terrific outing by Kansas starter Reese Dutton was for naught as he allowed three runs over 7 2/3 innings. Kansas State's Owen Boerema was equally great, allowing just two runs in seven innings and striking out eight Kansas batters. Kansas rebounded to win Saturday's middle game with a 4-0 shutout. Kansas starter Dominic Voegele tossed six scoreless innings, while Cooper Moore, Tegan Cain, and Hunter Cranton each threw a scoreless inning in relief. The contest was scoreless into the fifth inning when Jayhawks designated hitter Lenny Ashby hit a two-run double off the top of the right field wall, that was all the offense Kansas needed though they added two more runs over the sixth and seventh innings. Kansas State had only six hits in the ballgame. “I felt like my location was pretty good today. It didn’t matter what pitch I threw, it went where I wanted it to,” said Voegele after the win as he improved to 7-2 this season. Kansas took a 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning on Sunday after a Ty Wisdom solo home run. Kansas State climbed back slowly, scoring a run in the fifth and a run in the sixth inning to tie the game at two heading to the seventh inning. Nick English (2-for-4) drove in the game-winning run with a two-run single in the bottom of the seventh. Parsons was 3-for-4 for the Wildcats, his first three-hit game of the season. Blake Dean was outstanding out of the Kansas State bullpen, tossing 3 2/3 scoreless innings before Neighbors finished the job in the ninth inning, earning his sixth save of the season in the 4-2 win to claim the series. Neighbors struck out three in the ninth, but the final one reached base on a wild pitch allowing the potential tying run to come to the plate. UCF at Houston UCF right-hander Ben Vespi was perfect into the fourth inning against Houston on Friday night, retiring the first 10 batters he faced. Vespi then allowed one of the only two hits he allowed over seven innings, the other hit was a solo home run by Cougars outfielder Cary Arbolida, the Big 12 leader in slugging percentage, his 13th home run of the season. Andrew Sundean hit a two-run home run to center field for the Knights in the third inning and a run-scoring triple by Lex Boedicker in the seventh inning was all the offense UCF needed as they took the 4-1 road win. UCF starter Dom Stagliano was outstanding Saturday night in Houston. Leading 4-0, Stagliano carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning when a single in the inning broke up the no-hit bid. The Cougars loaded the bases and the Knights went to the bullpen. Harold Coll hit a grand slam to tie the game at four.  Mikey Kluska (2-for-4), who drove in three runs in the game, drove in two of them in the top of the eighth inning to put UCF back in front for good. Knights' catcher Danny Neri drove in a run in both the second and sixth innings. UCF pitching limited Houston to just four hits in the 6-4 win. Sunday's final game was rained out and will not be made up. BYU did not play a Big 12 opponent this weekend. • SEC Weekly Roundup (April 25-28): Get in the Right Position

With only three weeks left in the regular season, SEC teams are looking to better position themselves for the SEC Tournament and NCAA Tournament. A perfect example of this was the series between Alabama and Ole Miss this past weekend. A couple of teams on the bubble needing a big series win to get pointed in the right direction. It was the Crimson Tide who got that series win on the road. They dominated Ole Miss on Thursday in a 12-0 (7) win, and then they pulled away late in the third game for a 10-3 win. Ole Miss was able to hold off Alabama in the middle game for an 8-9 win. The Crimson Tide offense has been great all year, and now they appear to have found some solutions in the starting rotation. In the first game, senior Greg Farone went all 7 innings allowing just 6 hits with no walks and 6 strikeouts. And then in the finale, freshman Zane Adams gave up 3 earned runs over 7 innings. Speaking of teams in need of wins, LSU has found themselves in a scary spot with just three weeks left to go. But they were able to take advantage of Auburn at home this past weekend. Gage Jump remains in a groove on the mound for LSU tossing 7 shutout innings in a 5-0 win on Friday. Tommy White and Hayden Travinski went deep. White homered again in game two, and Luke Holman struck out 9 over 6.2 innings. But it came down to the ninth inning where Josh Pearson got the walk-off hit. Auburn kept it from being a perfect weekend for LSU as they took the finale 7-5 thanks to a 5-run first inning. While LSU is battling with Missouri and Ole Miss just to make it to Hoover, Auburn is a safe bet to miss. Mississippi State went on the road this past weekend and stole a series from Vanderbilt. They dropped the first game 4-0 as Vanderbilt got a complete game shutout from Bryce Cunningham (9 IP, 2 H, 2 BB, 0 ER, 4 Ks). They bounced back with a 7-5 win on Saturday thanks to a big day from Hunter Hines who was 3-4 with 5 RBI including a 3-run home run. Brooks Auger was good on the mound for the Bulldogs allowing just 1 earned run over 5 innings with 6 strikeouts. The finale was a wild one with Mississippi State taking an early 6-0 lead, but Vanderbilt tied it up with a 6-run sixth and then took the lead in the seventh. Then Hines delivered again on the weekend with a go-ahead 2-run homer in the ninth that led to an 8-7 win and series win. Likewise, South Carolina got a huge series win over Kentucky to help boost their resume as a potential NCAA Tournament host. Game one of this series was a classic as the game was 1-1 going into the ninth inning where each team scored 3 runs. South Carolina did so with three solo home runs. Kentucky scored 1 in the top of the 10th, and then Blake Jackson walked it off with a 2-run shot in the bottom half. Kentucky starter Trey Pooser was great, striking out 11 in 7 innings. The offensive surge late in game one carried into game two as South Carolina and Kentucky combined for 28 runs. Leadoff man, Ryan Waldschmidt, for Kentucky had 4 hits and 4 runs scored, while Grant Smith drove in four in the 15-13 win. South Carolina run-ruled the Wildcats on Sunday 10-0 in 7 innings. Dylan Eskew (6.1 IP, 5 H, 1 BB, 0 ER, 2 Ks) had a great start for the Gamecocks, while Kennedy Jones drove in four. Georgia had the daunting task of traveling to College Station this past weekend to face the top-ranked Texas A&M Aggies, and they managed to avoid getting swept on the weekend. Ryan Prager (6 IP, 5 H, 2 BB, 2 ER, 6 Ks) was good on the mound for Texas A&M in game one. Jackson Appel had a big 2-run home run to give them a 4-2 lead on the way to a 5-2 win. Evan Ascheenbeck finished it off with 2.2 scoreless innings for his 7th save of the year. Game two was a wild one with the wind gusting out. The Bulldogs put up 9 runs in the top of the first only to see A&M answer with 8 runs in the bottom half. In the sixth inning, A&M would have another 8-run inning on their way to a 19-9 win. But on weekends like this for Georgia, it’s just about not getting swept. They managed that in the third game with a 5-run seventh inning that was capped by a 2-run home from Charlie Condon. On the mound for the Bulldogs, Kolten Smith struck out 11 over 6 innings. Florida also survived the weekend on the road against a top team in Arkansas, but the Gators are in a spot where they need series wins. Hagen Smith struck out 11 in 7 innings allowing just 2 hits and 1 walk as the Razorbacks scraped by with a 2-1 win thanks to an eighth-inning sacrifice flyout by Jared Sprague-Lott to score Ty Wilmsmeyer. Game two was a frustrating one for Florida as they lost 6-5 despite collecting 10 hits and 7 walks. The big play of the game came in the eighth inning when the Gators had the bases loaded and Payton Holt pulled off the deke of a lifetime. Jac Caglianone wasn’t great on the mound in the third game but hit a grand slam to help lift Florida to a 9-5 win that they desperately needed. After a big series win against Kentucky, Tennessee was able to follow that up with a sweep against Missouri as they stayed in the race for the regular season title. The Volunteers had to work in the final two games of this series to get it done. After winning the first game 10-1, they won each of the next games by 3-2 scores. Give a lot of credit to that Missouri pitching staff for holding down Tennessee’s powerful offense at home. But AJ Causey (6 IP, 1 ER, 6Ks) and Drew Beam (7.1 IP, 2 ER, 8 Ks) were just as good for Tennessee in those first two games. • Big 12 Weekly Roundup (Apr. 25-28): Musical Chairs Continues

New Rankings The new College Baseball Nation Top 25 once again features two teams this week. The Oklahoma State Cowboys rose one spot to No. 18 after they swept BYU in Stillwater this weekend. The West Virginia Mountaineers dropped out of the Top 25 last week after appearing for one week, they are back this week at No. 24 after sweeping Baylor in Morgantown. The Oklahoma Sooners dropped from the Top 25 after losing a series at home to Texas. The Sooners still have the best record in the Big 12 at 15-6, one game ahead of both Oklahoma State and West Virginia. A Look Back at Week 8 in Big 12 Baseball BYU at No. 18 Oklahoma State Carson Benge was on the mound for Thursday’s opening game in Stillwater. Benge made life difficult in two ways: He tossed five innings of one-run baseball and struck out six batters, and he went 3-for-4 at the plate with two home runs and three RBI. Nolan Schubart was 3-for-3 in the game and also hit two home runs and had four RBI. Ian Daugherty added a home run and four RBI as the Cowboys ran away with a 17-5 game one victory. BYU took a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the third inning of Saturday’s first game thanks in part to a Collin Reuter solo home run. But the Cowboys responded. Nolan Schubart and Zach Ehrhard each hit home runs and drove in two runs, while Ian Daugherty contributed three hits and two RBI. In fact, the four thru seven spots in the Oklahoma State order all had two RBI in the game. Gabe Davis came out of the Cowboys bullpen and tossed 3 1/3 innings of scoreless baseball allowing just one hit and picking up five strikeouts to earn the save and secure the 11-5 series-clinching win for Oklahoma State. Brian Holiday (4-3) worked 7 1/3 innings and struck out 10 Cougars batters on the way to 12-5 Cowboys victory and a weekend sweep. Benge hit his 11th home run of the season and his fourth of the series in Friday’s second game, while Ehrhard also went deep for the 10th time this season and added four RBI. Colin Brueggemann (2-for-3) drove in three runs as well for the Cowboys. Baylor at No. 24 West Virginia Baylor took a 2-0 first inning lead over West Virginia in Friday’s opening game. The Mountaineers then outscored the Bears 18-3 the rest of the way. JJ Wetherholt and Kyle West each hit home runs on the night and Reed Chumley drove in five runs. Wetherholt finished the game with two hits and four RBI while West, Logan Sauve, and Grant Hussey each drove in two runs. West Virginia won the game 18-5. Left-hander Derek Clark (5-1) led the Mountaineers to a 5-2 win, and a series win, on Saturday. Clark pitched 8 innings and allowed the two runs and struck out eight. It was the fifth time in eight starts that Clark has pitched eight or more innings. West reached base three times and hit his 11th home run of the season, which leads the Mountaineers. Chumley added two hits and Brodie Kresser drove in two runs for West Virginia. On Sunday, West Virginia’s Grant Hussey went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, and scored three times. Skylar King added two doubles and three RBI with Benjamin Lumsden driving in two runs on two hits. A five run seventh was followed by a three run eighth as the Mountaineers put the game out of reach for the Bears. Aidan Major went 5 2/3 innings before the bullpen pitched a shutout over the final three innings. West Virginia completed the sweep by winning game three 13-4. Texas at Oklahoma Oklahoma left-hander Braden Davis (5-3) pitched six innings of one-run baseball and struck out nine Texas batters to open the series on Friday night. Jaxon Willits hit a home run and singled home another run for the Sooners while Kendall Pettis and John Spikerman each drove in two runs. Malachi Witherspoon pitched a scoreless ninth inning, striking out all three outs in the frame as Oklahoma took game one 9-4. Before Saturday's game it was announced that there would be no baseball played on Saturday and a doubleheader played on Sunday instead. Jalin Flores went 2-for-4 with two RBI doubles in Sunday's first game for Texas, while Will Gasparino and Kimble Schuessler each hit solo home runs, and Casey Borba added two RBI. Chase Lummus pitched 3 2/3 innings in relief for Texas and allowed just one run on three hits before Gage Boehm pitched the final 2 1/3 innings to earn his fifth save of the season. The Longhorns only had seven base hits in the ballgame, but it was enough to get past the Sooners as Texas won 8-6 to even the series. The Sooners and the Longhorns then combined to score 22 runs on 28 hits in the second game on Sunday, and they only played seven innings. Texas hit six home runs in the game for the second time last week. Max Belyeu went 4-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI, while Borba, Gasparino, Peyton Powell, and Rylan Galvan also added to the home run total. Willits was 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI and Jackson Nicklaus was 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI for Oklahoma. Lightning in the area forced the game into a delay just as the eighth inning was about to get underway. The game never resumed, and Texas took the 12-10 victory and the series win in Norman. Cincinnati at UCF A Jack Zyska three-run home run bottom of the fifth inning gave UCF 4-1 lead. The game from the sixth inning on looked completely different. The Bearcats plated three runs in the seventh inning as Landyn Vidourek drove in two runs. With the game tied at four in the top of the eighth inning and with the bases loaded, Kerrington Cross doubled to clear the bases giving the Bearcats a 9-4 lead, which would be the final tally. Luke Sefcik was 2-for-3 at the plate with a sacrifice fly and two RBI in the game. Ben Vespi pitched well enough to win for UCF, going six innings allowing just two runs, but the game was decided well after he departed. Zyska was 2-for-4 with a season-high four RBI on Saturday and this time his heroics were rewarded with a victory as UCF reset the series to even with a 5-2 win. Andrew Brait, Matt Prevesk, and Dylan King all contributed two hits to the Knights offense, which had 13 hits in the game. Knights starter Dom Stagliano pitched four innings allowing the two Bearcats runs, and Dominic Castellano pitched the final five frames without allowing a run and giving up just two hits. The two hurlers combined to strike out eleven batters. Nathan Taylor pitched a solid game for Cincinnati in defeat, throwing 6 1/3 innings and allowing just two runs. The Bearcats then took the road series on Sunday with an 8-2 victory. Cincinnati shortstop Lauden Brooks drove in three runs while Luke Sefcik and Josh Hegemann each drove in a pair of runs. Chase Horst and Griffin Hugus both pitched in relief of Tommy Boba and completely shut down the Knights batters over a combined five scoreless innings. The Bearcats racked up 16 hits in the ballgame and all eight of the runs they scored were scored with two outs. Texas Tech at Kansas Kansas walked off Texas Tech 4-3 in the bottom of the ninth inning Friday night in Lawrence. After trailing in the game by scores of 2-0 and 3-1, Kansas first baseman Ben Hartl delivered a timely single to left field with the bases loaded to make the Jayhawks victors. Hartl was 4-for-5 Friday night with a double, a home run, two RBI, and a run scored. Right-hander Reese Dutton paced the Kansas pitching staff with his seventh quality start of the season, tossing seven innings and allowing three runs while striking out seven Red Raiders batters. Drew Woodcox was 2-for-4 with two RBI for Texas Tech in a losing effort. Texas Tech scored two runs in the top of the second inning on Saturday to take a 2-0 lead. Kansas responded by scoring 11 unanswered runs on their way to an 11-2 win to stake claim to the series. Jayhawks left fielder Chase Jans flashed plenty of leather in the win, he also hit his first home run of the season and finished with a season-high four RBI. Hartl and Cooper Combs also had two RBI each. Dominic Voegele was terrific once again on the mound for Kansas. Voegele pitched six innings and allowed just the two Red Raiders runs on three hits and improved to 6-2 this season with the win. The Jayhawks completed the sweep on Sunday 7-3. Right-hander Ethan Lanthier was stellar out of the bullpen for Kansas, throwing 4 2/3 scoreless innings, to earn the win for the third consecutive Sunday. John Nett hit a solo home run in the victory and extended his hitting streak to 18 games. Kodey Shojinaga hit a bases-clearing double to cap off a five-run fourth inning for the Jayhawks. Kansas State at TCU TCU threw its fourth shutout of the season on Friday to welcome Kansas State to town. Payton Tolle, who has pitched in three of the four TCU shutouts this season, started the game on Friday and pitched five innings and struck out seven Wildcats batters. Andrew Mosiello pitched the final four innings and added six strikeouts to the ledger. Logan Maxwell and Kurtis Byrne each drove in three runs while Luke Boyers homered for the fifth time this season to lead the Horned Frogs to the 12-0 shutout. Kansas State led the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader 3-1 going into the bottom of the fourth inning. TCU then exploded for six runs in the frame. Peyton Chatagnier (2-for-4) was the only TCU hitter with multiple hits in the game and left fielder Jack Arthur contributed two RBI. Reliever Ben Abeldt took the mound in the sixth inning and proceeded to shut down the Wildcats over the next four innings. Abeldt allowed four base hits but nothing more and TCU took the game 7-4 and claimed the series victory. Kansas State won the second game of the Saturday doubleheader to leave Ft. Worth with one road victory. The Wildcats got a solid outing from Owen Boerema who pitched 5 2/3 innings allowing three runs. Tyson Neighbors relieved Boerema and pitched a shutout over the final 3 1/3 innings giving up just two base hits and striking out four Horned Frogs batters. Kaelen Culpepper was 2-for-3 in the game and drove in four of the six Wildcats runs. Houston did not play a Big 12 opponent this weekend. • Big 12 Notebook: April 25, 2024

The Big 12 sees less of a logjam at the top than it did a week ago as 10 of the 13 teams jockey for a spot in the Phillips 66 Championship in Arlington, Texas in late May. No. 22 Oklahoma is in front in the league right now with a 14-4 record, Three teams occupy the second spot with 11-7 records: Oklahoma State, West Virginia, and Texas. If the Championship started today, TCU, BYU, and Houston would be left out of the field. Recapping the Midweek No. 19 Oklahoma State went to Oral Roberts and won 12-4. No. 22 Oklahoma topped Wichita State 3-1 in Norman. New Mexico traveled to Texas Tech and got a rare win in Lubbock, 17-3. Kansas State beat Omaha 6-4. UCF defeated Florida Gulf Coast 10-3. Baylor hosted Sam Houston and won 9-3. BYU walked-off Utah 5-4 in Provo. West Virginia's scheduled midweek was rained out. Weekend Schedule BYU (16-21, 6-15) at No. 19 Oklahoma State (27-14, 11-7) Texas (25-17, 11-7) at No. 22 Oklahoma (25-14, 14-4) Texas Tech (29-14, 12-9) at Kansas (22-15, 9-9) Baylor (19-20, 9-9) at West Virginia (23-16, 11-7) Kansas State (25-15, 9-9) at TCU (24-15, 8-13) Cincinnati (23-18, 9-9) at UCF (25-13, 8-10) Houston does not play a Big 12 opponent this weekend. League Notes With a 5-1 record in 13 relief appearances, Tommy Molsky leads Oklahoma State and ranks third in the Big 12 in wins. Three of those wins have come in league play as the right-hander picked up a victory in each of the Cowboys first three conference series. BYU closer Stone Cushing registered a season-long outing with three innings pitched versus Oklahoma on April 20. Cushing leads the Cougars in ERA (2.29) and in games finished (16) and continues to co-lead the Big 12 with seven saves. With the two wins at Baylor, Kansas has now won two Big 12 series on the road this season. The last time Kansas did that in the same season was 2014, which was the Jayhawks last appearance in a NCAA Regional. Kansas has scored at least eight runs in eight of their last nine games. Oklahoma is on an eight-game win streak heading into Friday's first game with Texas, good for the longest win streak since the 2017 team won 12 straight. West Virginia’s JJ Wetherholt leads the team with a .327 batting average while Reed Chumley has a team-high 10 home runs. Kyle West leads the team with 32 RBI and with nine home runs of his own. Over the past five games, Jack Zyska and AJ Nessler have led UCF at the plate with .529 and .526 averages, respectively. Zyska is 9-for-17 with two doubles, a home run, six runs scored, and eight RBI, while Nessler is 10-for-19 with two doubles, a triple, a home run, 10 runs scored, and eight RBI. TCU pitching has racked up 433 strikeouts, good for second in the Big 12 and ninth nationally. The Horned Frogs have allowed runs in just four of the last 36 innings pitched (over the last four games). The TCU bullpen has surrendered just four runs in its last 22 innings pitched (1.63 ERA). Right-hander Seth Logue opened the year in Cincinnati's starting rotation and is projected to start on Friday this weekend, but over the last few weeks he has flourished in a new role out of the bullpen in the second or third inning after an "opener" makes the start. Over Logue's last four outings out of the bullpen, he has compiled a 3.27 ERA over 22 innings while striking out 28 and walking just six batters. Texas leads the Big 12 with 81 home runs, seven more than the next closest team, Texas Tech with 74. The Longhorns total is more than double that of the bottom two home run hitting teams in the Big, Baylor with 29 and TCU at 28. Baylor infielder Tyriq Kemp has been hot at the plate recently, hitting .447 (17-for-38) over his last 12 games and a .558 OBP. Kemp has slugged .737 over those last 12 games with five doubles and two home runs, while driving in 11 runs. Kansas State catcher Raphael Pelletier has hit a team-leading nine home runs this season, after hitting two out on Saturday against Oklahoma State. Texas Tech leads the Big 12 in most offensive categories: batting average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, hits, runs, RBIs, doubles, total bases, and walks, and is ranked third in the nation in hits and doubles, fifth in runs scored, and ninth in batting average. Buster Posey Award Mid-Season Watch List A list of 63 candidates for the 2024 Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award was released and it contains two Big 12 catchers: Anthony Tulimero, Houston Raphael Pelletier, Kansas State The winner will be announced on June 26. Honored The National College Baseball Hall of Fame named Texas Tech right-hander Kyle Robinson the National Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday for his performance last week. Robinson shut down West Virginia over the weekend, tossing seven innings and allowing just one run on four hits and striking out nine. Quoted "It's all about a mentality, you've got to understand that when you walk out there," Oklahoma head coach Skip Johnson told his team last week. "Just have a mentality, because then you don't have any regrets, no regrets, just put it out there on the line." “You put your heart out there. If you get beat out there that day, you get beat. Just attack the game.” Thanks for stopping by! Follow us on X and on Instagram to keep up with all of our content!

  • SEC Weekly Roundup (April 18-21): A Power Struggle is Brewing Between the Top 4

This SEC season is shaping up to be a fun finish at the top between Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas, and Texas A&M. It was the matchup of the weekend in Lexington, Ky with Tennessee traveling to face Kentucky in a top 5 affair that lived up to the hype. The first game was a good pitching matchup between Kentucky’s Trey Pooser (6 IP, 5 H, 1 BB, 3 ER, 4 Ks) and Tennessee’s AJ Causey (6.1 IP, 5 H, 1 BB, 4 ER, 7 Ks). With the Wildcats down a run in the seventh, Emilien Pitre had this clutch 2-RBI hit to propel Kentucky to an eventual 5-3 win. Tennessee put up 5 runs in the first inning of game two on their way to a 9-4 win. Christian Moore, Blake Burke, Kavares Tears, and Dylan Dreiling all went deep for the Volunteers. Aaron Combs was great in relief tossing 4.2 shutout innings with 7 strikeouts. Game three was a back-and-forth slugfest with the lead changing four times. Moore helped put the game away for good with a solo shot in the 7th and a 3-run homer in the 8th as Tennessee would go on to win 13-11. The Alabama Crimson Tide have hosted the number one team in the country in back-to-back weeks and have gone 3-3 in those contests after dropping the series to Texas A&M this past weekend. Alabama jumped out to a 5-0 lead in game one the series, but Texas A&M scored 10 unanswered to win 10-5. Caden Sorrell had a big game for the Aggies driving in 5 with a grand slam in a 6-run fifth inning. Shane Sdao was big in relief tossing 3.2 scoreless innings with 5 strikeouts to close out the game. You don’t want to get in a slugfest with Texas A&M, which is what Alabama tried to do in the second game of a doubleheader on Friday. The Aggies put up 8 runs in the second inning and went on to win 18-9. Jace LaViolette, Braden Montgomery, and Hayden Schott each drove in 4 runs. Alabama jumped out to another 5-0 lead in game three only to see Texas A&M come back and take the lead. However, the Crimson Tide wouldn’t let this one slip away as Bryce Eblin had a 2-run single in the 7th to give them a 10-9 lead. Alton Davis II pitched 3.1 to finish it off for Alabama. And stranded runners at 2nd and 3rd in the 9th. After suffering their first series loss of the year, Arkansas bounced back by winning two games over Texas Tech in the midweek and then getting a series win over South Carolina on the road this past weekend. It started as most weekends do for Arkansas with a brilliant performance by Hagen Smith who allowed just 1 run on 2 hits over 6 innings with 11 strikeouts. The offense scratched across 2 runs in the sixth and that was enough for the 2-1 win. South Carolina strung together 5 singles and a walk as part of a 4-run sixth inning in the second game – leading to a 6-3 win. South Carolina pitching was able to work around 12 hits and 3 walks allowed to just give up the 3 runs. Brady Tygart (6 IP, 4 H, 2 BB, 2 ER, 6 Ks) pitched well in game three for Arkansas in a 9-6 win. The offense scored 5 runs in the seventh to put the game away; although, the Gamecocks did score 4 runs in the eighth and 1 run in the ninth to make it a little closer. In the seventh inning, Arkansas got a walk, single, wild pitch, single, single, double, wild pitch, single, and walk. Vanderbilt was looking for a bounceback weekend after getting swept and they got it against the struggling Florida Gators. They won the first game 10-5 as Bryce Cunningham gave them a quality start on the mound while RJ Austin had 3 hits, 3 runs, and 3 RBI. Carter Holton was fantastic for Vanderbilt in 5-2 win allowing just 2 earned runs on 4 hits over 7 innings with no walks and 10 strikeouts. Jac Caglianone and Tyler Shelnut helped Florida avoid the sweep with a 6-2 win in the finale. Cags gave up just 2 runs over 5 innings, while Shelnut drove in 5 of the 6 runs for the Gators. There was a little bit of drama in the series as well with a Vanderbilt pitcher getting ejected after being accused of having an illegal substance on his arm. Mississippi State was looking to shake off a frustrating series loss to it’s rival against an Auburn team that has been disappointing, to say the least, this year. The Bulldogs took the first game 8-1 behind another strong start from Khal Stephen who went 7 innings and allowed just 1 unearned run with 11 strikeouts. Because of the weather, the two teams played a couple of 7-inning games on Sunday. Mississippi State took the first one 3-1 to clinch the series. After having his shortest outing of the year last weekend, Jurrangelo Cijntje got back on track going 6.2 innings allowed just 1 earned run on 3 hits with 5 strikeouts. The Bulldogs finished off the sweep in dramatic fashion with a walk-off hit by Connor Hujsak. LSU needed a series win in the worst way against Missouri this past weekend and they were able to get it done. In game one, they run-ruled Missouri 12-1. Gage Jump gave up just 1 earned run on 3 hits and a walk over 7 innings with 14 strikeouts. All but two LSU starters drove in a run with Hayden Travinski leading the way with 4 RBI. Luke Holman got roughed up in the second game leading to a Missouri 7-1 lead through 5 innings. Missouri’s starter, Javyn Pimental, threw a great game allowing just 1 run on 2 hits through 5 innings. LSU got homers from Jared Jones, Travinski, and Tommy White late to make it close, but Missouri held on for the 8-7 win. Missouri jumped out a 2-0 lead on Sunday, but Nate Ackenhausen and Griffin Herring shut it down from there allowing just 2 baserunners past the third inning. The LSU offense tied it up with 2 runs in the fifth and then added single runs in every frame the rest of the way for a 6-2 win. LSU plays the only team below them in the standings next week in Auburn – another chance to get back in the mix. Slate Alford powered Georgia to a 17-6 (8) win over Ole Miss in game one of their series this past weekend. He drove in 8 runs total with a 3-run homer and a grand slam. Brian Zeldin pitched the final 3 innings for Georgia without allowing a hit. In game two, it was Charlie Condon’s turn to be the hero again as he went 4-5 with 2 home runs, a double, and 4 RBI in a 7-2 win for the Bulldogs. Georgia reliever Kolten Smith tossed 3.1 hitless, scoreless innings to end the game with 6 strikeouts. Ole Miss did escape the road trip with a 3-2 victory in the second game of a double-header on Saturday night. • Big 12 Weekly Roundup (Apr. 18-21): Musical Chairs

New Rankings The new College Baseball Nation Top 25 once again features two teams this week. The Oklahoma State Cowboys dropped four spots to No. 19 after they went 1-2 in Manhattan, Kansas this weekend. The Oklahoma Sooners return to the Top 25 for the first time since the week 5 rankings, checking it at No. 22. The West Virginia Mountaineers dropped out of the Top 25 after being swept in Lubbock over the weekend. A Look Back at Week 7 in Big 12 Baseball No. 19 Oklahoma State at Kansas State Kansas State trailed 5-3 going to the bottom of the 12th inning on Friday night against Oklahoma State before scoring three runs to walk-off 6-5 winners. Blake Dean, Cole Wisenbaker, and Tyson Neighbors combined to pitch 4 1/3 scoreless innings in relief for the Wildcats. Neighbors faced nine batters and struck out five of them. David Bishop delivered the game winner on a single to left field. Colin Brueggemann, who went 3-for-6 for the Cowboys with two runs scored. Jackson Wentworth made his first start in just over a year on Saturday, having pitched out of the bullpen so far this season. Wentworth was brilliant for Kansas State and allowed just one run over 6 1/3 innings. JJ Slack relieved Wentworth and threw 2 2/3 innings allowing one run. Kansas State catcher Raphael Pelletier finished 3-for-4 with a double and two home runs and drove in three runs. The 7-2 victory meant Kansas State came away from the game as series winners. The Cowboys avoided the sweep by taking Sunday’s finale 6-4. Lane Forsythe was 3-for-3 and accounted for 3 of the Cowboys 7 hits in the game. Brueggemann and Jaxson Crull both homered for Oklahoma State. Kansas State center fielder Brendan Jones was 3-for-5 with one RBI in the loss. No. 22 Oklahoma at BYU Braden Davis threw 6 1/3 innings and struck out 11 BYU batters for Oklahoma in Thursday’s opening game in Provo. Easton Carmichael and Michael Snyder each went 3-for-5 and Anthony Mackenzie drove in two runs for the Sooners. BYU catcher Collin Reuter hit a three-run blast to center field in the bottom of the ninth inning, but it was not enough as the Sooners won 10-8. The Sooners then claimed the series on Friday night 12-6, scoring all the runs they needed in a seven run fourth inning, Carmichael capped the scoring for Oklahoma with a two-run blast. Kyson Witherspoon was good on the mound over five innings, and he improved to 4-2 this season with the win. In Saturday's series finale, Bryce Madron hit a double and two home runs to drive in seven runs for the Sooners, while Mackenzie and Snyder each had one RBI. Oklahoma used six pitchers in the road finale, no one pitched more than two innings, and the Sooners won 10-7 to grab the road sweep. Houston at Cincinnati Houston starter Cade Citelli threw five scoreless frames before handing the final four innings off to the Cougars bullpen leading 4-0. Cincinnati then scored six runs over two innings, highlighted by a two-run home run to left-center field by slugger Tommy O'Connor. The Bearcats took game one of the weekend, 6-4. After trailing 4-0 for the second day in a row, Cincinnati rallied to win the game 5-4 and win the series in the process. Five Bearcats hitters each drove in a run as they pieced together an offense that scored in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings. Carson Marsh had a nice outing for the Bearcats in relief, throwing three scoreless frames to close out the victory. Cincinnati jumped out to a 3-0 lead on a Christian Mitchelle home run in the bottom of the first inning on Sunday. Houston catcher Jonathan French came off the bench to pinch-hit in the sixth inning and hit the first pitch he saw for a two RBI go-ahead single. French hit the second pitch he saw over the left field wall in the eighth inning. In his final at-bat in the ninth inning, French (3-for-3) singled home an insurance run and Houston won 8-5 to avoid a sweep. Kansas at Baylor Baylor dominated on Friday night and the 14-5 final score indicates a game that was closer than it actually was. Bears catcher Cortlan Castle led the Baylor offense with three hits and four RBI. Enzo Apodaca added two hits and drove in two runs. Right-hander Mason Marriott threw 5 1/3 innings and struck out six while allowing four hits on his way to a win. Saturday's middle game was suspended in the eighth inning with Kansas leading 8-4. Prior to the suspension, Jake English hit a second inning grand slam for Kansas, his 12th home run of the season and Michael Brooks added a two-run blast in the fourth inning, his seventh home run of the season. Dominic Voegele (5-2) pitched six strong innings and struck out six Bears batters. Voegele officially earned the win on Sunday afternoon when Kansas closed out the 8-4 victory. Ben Hartl hit a grand slam in the final game of the series and that was all the offense the Jayhawks needed, but they scored eight more times anyway to run-rule the Bears 12-2 in eight innings and claim the road series. Kansas used a trio of the pitchers in the game, while Baylor went to six different pitchers looking for answers. West Virginia at Texas Tech Texas Tech made a statement in Lubbock on Friday night with a 15-2 drubbing of West Virginia. Ryan Free pitched six innings for the Red Raiders and allowed just two runs.  Offensively, Austin Green went 3-for-4 with a grand slam and five RBI. Saturday's middle game was scrubbed early in the day and made part of a Sunday doubleheader. Texas Tech won Sunday's first game 6-4 to claim the series. Gavin Kash went 4-for-5 with three doubles and three RBI. Cade McGee, Damian Bravo and Dylan Maxcey all went 2-for-4 for Texas Tech. Mac Heuer tossed five innings allowing two runs to earn his fourth victory of the season. The Red Raiders took the finale 3-1 late Sunday afternoon. Not to be outdone by Heuer on the day, Kyle Robinson pitched seven innings allowing just one run to also earn his fourth win of the season. Kevin Bazzell and Garet Boehm were both 2-for-3 and Bazell’s 8th inning home run was a nice insurance run late. Hayden Cooper pitched a terrific six innings out of the Mountaineers bullpen allowing just one run in the loss. TCU at Texas TCU pitching was the story of Friday night. Payton Tolle (4-3) pitched seven shutout innings allowing just four hits and striking out seven Texas batters. Luke Boyers drove in two runs for the Horned Frogs and that was plenty of offense for Tolle and two relievers, Hunter Hodges and Ben Abeldt, who combined to limit the Longhorns to five hits in the 5-0 shutout in Austin. TCU’s pitching trio did not allow a Texas base runner to reach third base. Ace Whitehead put the Longhorns on his back and led them to a 7-0 win on Saturday to even the series. Whitehead allowed just three TCU hits over six scoreless frames. Casey Borba provided a good chunk of the Texas offense with three hits and three RBI in the victory.
